Why Volunteer?

A common question we hear is, "What's in it for the volunteer?" The answer is simple:

  1. They Gain Valuable Education / Work Experience
  2. They are Providing Themselves with Future Opportunities
  3. They are Given Priority Consideration During the Hiring Process
  4. They Get Affordable Housing
  5. They may Receive a Service they Otherwise can't Afford
  6. They Earn “REBIN Reward Points”
  7. They are Paying it Forward

Education / Work Experience
Volunteer work looks great on a resume not only from a community service prespective and showing moral character, but also in terms of the job skills they can now report. Too often you need experience in a position when applying for a job. You can often get this type of experience through volunteering.

Volunteers and interns also have access to a wealth of information through the education they get in the placement training and through access to our library of educational and training material that is growing all the time.

We are developing an education / training program for which we charge. Our volunteers and interns will have access to these programs for free. In many cases this is the only way they'd be able to afford it.

We attend a business forum in Henderson, Nevada 5 times a ywar. At this forum we receive some of the top business training that's available. This includes MBA level training on capital, business, team building and leadership, merger / acquisition, branding and much more. This training costs thousands of dollars for those wo attend, and yet a volunteer MAY be able to attend for free! (Attending this type of event would depend greatly on performance, and is not to be expected as a regular or standard benefit.)

Future Opportunities
As our network of businesses is developed, it will not only provide affordable housing, but it will provide jobs, and many other products and services. As it expands, additional products and services will be added to our offerings. As we incorporate the products and services of other groups, even more resources will be made available. By volunteering for us now, you will be helping us create these resources from which you will be able to benefit in the future as a consumer, job seeker, business owner or investor.

Priority Consideration During the Hiring Process
As our business grows and we raise capital, we will be able to hire employees for full time and part time positions to perform a lot of the tasks that were formerly done by volunteers. We will be providing benefits and paid vacations and we expect to be paying above industry standard wages to our team members.

In most cases, we will be giving priority consideration to those who have volunteered for us before we hire from the general public. As we mentioned above, the fact that your resume now indicates you have done volunteer work reflects favourably on your moral character. Also, we will have had time to observe your work ethic and how you interact with people. This dramatically improves your chance of gaining employment with us. We may also be willing to provide a letter of reference for you when you apply for a job somewhere else.

Affordable Housing
In the same way that Habitat for Humanity requires its clients to invest a certain number of volunteer hours in order to be eligable to be taken on as a client, we require the same of our clients. All participants in our affordable housing programs are required to invest volunteer hours.

Receive a Service They Can't Afford
If we provide a service they want, but they can't afford it, they may be allowed to barter their time in trade for the service. They volunteer for us and we give them the service for free.

REBIN Reward Points
As mentioned above, all volunteers and interns are entered in the “REBIN Rewards Program™”. This means when they work for us, they are earning valuable REBIN Reward Points that can be redeamed for products and services our network of businesses is or will be providing. They are entitled to attend the Annual Rewards Banquet when they've earned enough points, and they are entered in draws for fabulous prizes and gifts.

Paying it Forward
Normally when someone volunteers to do something, they don't ask, "What's in it for me?" They do it out of the goodness of their heart because they want to help someone in need. In this case, our mission is to provide Affordable Housing solutions for at least 100,000 clients in Canada and the US. The project focuses on special needs groups like low income clients, battered women, single parents, homeless and many more.

In addition, we will be working with many other organizations, community groups and non-profits to help them expand their outreach programs to impact many more people. Therefore when you volunteer for us, your contribution is litterally helping hundreds of thousands of people.

Get Paid to Volunteer?

If you'd like to help, but you want to be paid, we can arrange that. We may hire you as an Independant Out-Sourced Contractor as long as you are willing to accept deferred payments. In other words, we will pay you when the business is able to pay you. This is either after we have raised enough capital or after the business is bringing in enough revenue to be able to pay you. Specific details would be subject to negotiation and would be reflected in the contract.
